PLEASE READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE BEGINNING INSTALLATION

1.         See Diagram A on back of sheet.  Starting on the drivers side, measure down 10 ½” from the tip of the deck lid where to meets the rear window and make a mark with a grease pencil.  Repeat procedure on other side.

2.         Leaving paper liner on bottom of Sportwing®, place the Sportwing® on the marks made in Step #1 so that as you face the rear of the car, the front tips of the Sportwing® rests on these marks, see Diagram A on back of sheet.  Next, exactly center the Sportwing® from left to right.  Outline mounting area with a grease pencil.

3.         Place the black plastic hole locator provided into the threaded sleeve of each of the outer most mounting area and place the Sportwing® back onto the pencil outline that you made in Step #2.  Once you have the Sportwing® centered on the outline marks, tape the hole locators using making tape or electrical tape onto the deck lid so they do not move when you lift the Sportwing® off the hole locators, leaving hole locators taped to the deck lid.  Using a 1/8” drill bit, drill through the center of the hole locator through the top panel and secondary panel of deck lid.  Repeat procedure on other side.  Next, remove hole locators from deck lid.  See Diagram B on back of sheet before continuing.

4.         Open the trunk and using a 5/8” hole saw, open up the 1/8” pilot hole per side drilled in the secondary panel to 5/8”.  This will give you access for your socket wrench later.  Repeat procedure on other side.

5.         Close trunk.  Next, you will need to open the two 1/8” pilot holes (outer holes only) that you made in the top panel of the deck lid back in Step #3 to 7/16” using a uni-bit (NOTE:  we suggest using a uni-bit for a cleaner cut).

5.         Remove the paper liner from bottom of Sportwing® and place the Sportwing® exactly back onto the outline marks that you made in Step #2.  Press firmly into place.

6.         Inner Fastening Area of Sportwing®:  See Diagram C on back of sheet.  Notice factory cut outs in secondary panel on drivers and passenger side.  Open deck lid.  Holding Sportwing® in place and using a 5/32” drill bit (NOTE: we insist that you use a drill stopper to prevent from drilling through the top of the Sportwing®.  Electrical tape wrapped tightly around drill bit will work as a drill stopper).  Only extend drill bit no more than 5/8” past drill stopper.  Using the drilling locations noted in Diagram C, drill through the deck lid and into the bottom of the mounting area.  Using self tapping screws with lock washers and flat washers provided, tighten using 5/16” socket with ratchet.  DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.  Repeat procedure on other side.

7.         Outer Fastening Area of Sporwing®:  Using machine screw with lock washer and flat washer, thread screw into threaded sleeve of outer mounting area.  Tighten using Phillips Screw Driver.  DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.  Repeat procedure on other side.  Cover 5/8” holes using 5/8” hole caps provided.

8.         Clean up any metal shavings that might have fallen into the trunk and you are done.  If you have any questions, problems or if you would like information about other quality Sportwing® products, please call the TOLL FREE number at the top of this sheet.  Thank you for choosing Dawn Enterprises Inc.

Diagram A

Exit of 1/8” drill bit when drilling through secondary panel (NOTE: the 5/8” holes are centered on flat area of secondary panel so that hole caps provided will sit on flat area).

Diagram B

After drilling 1/8” pilot hole using hole locator strip, you will need to continue drilling through secondary panel.  Slightly lift deck lid so you do not drill into rain channel of trunk.  After drilling 1/8” hole through secondary panel you will need to open secondary panel ONLY to 5/8” using a 5/8” hole saw.  5/8” black plugs have been provided for these holes upon finishing.

Diagram C

Drill 2 - 5/32” holes through the deck lid and up into the bottom of mounting area of Sportwing®.  (NOTE:  these 2 holes do not have to be in an exact location).
