INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS PART NUMBER: IS06 FOR: 2007 + Lexus IS250 & IS350 EFFECTIVE: 08.08.06

INSTALLATION PACKAGE INCLUDES:

A) 2 – Flange Lock Nuts (for threaded bolts)

B) 4 – Round Tape Gaskets (use the two smaller gaskets for the drivers’ side outer most 3/8” hole and passenger side outer most 3/8” hole)

C) 2 – ¼ - 20 x ½” Machine Screws (for each outer threaded sleeve)

D) 4 – Flat Washers

E) 2 – Templates (one drivers side and one passenger side)

F) Instruction Sheet

EXTRA TOOLS NEEDED:

1. 1/8” or similar Drill Bit

2. uni-bit to enlarge 1/8” pilot holes to 7/16”

PLEASE READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE BEGINNING INSTALLATION

YOU WILL NEED A 7/16” DEEP SOCKET TO INSTALL FLANGE LOCK NUTS

1. REMOVE TRUNK LINER! Open the trunk and place a protective cover inside the trunk to capture any metal shavings.

2. Close trunk. Starting on the drivers’ side, measure down 12” from the front corner of the trunk lid where it meets the window glass and make a mark. See Diagram A on back of sheet. Repeat on passenger side.

3. Starting on the drivers’ side, line up the DRIVERS’ SIDE TEMPLATE, provided, with the edge of the trunk at the 12” mark. See Diagram B on back of sheet. IMPORTANT! See Diagram C on back of sheet as to where to line up opposite end of template. Repeat procedure on passenger side using PASSENGER SIDE TEMPLATE.

4. Drill a 1/8” or similar pilot hole through the top panel of the deck lid at the exact center of each spot indicated on template.

5. Using a uni-bit (NOTE: we suggest using a uni-bit for a cleaner cut) open the four (4) 1/8” pilot holes to 3/8”.

6. Set the Sportwing^® on the trunk lid and align the two (2) THREADED BOLTS through the center holes in the trunk lid. Proper clearance must be maintained to avoid any bolts from binding with the trunk lid. Locate the Sportwing^® on the trunk lid and check hole alignments before installing to insure that the ¼” - 20 FLANGE LOCK NUTS can easily thread without forcing them.

7. Remove the Sportwing^® and apply zinc chromate primer or touch up paint on the edges of the four (4) holes that you drilled in the trunk lid.

8. See Diagram D on back of sheet. Place the four (4) ROUND TAPE GASKETS, provided, as shown in Diagram D on back of sheet, centered over the four (4) holes that you made in the deck lid in Step #5 (NOTE: use the two (2) SMALLER GASKETS for the drivers’ side outer most 3/8” hole and passenger side outer most 3/8” hole).

9. Open the trunk. First, install ¼ - 20 x ½” FLANGE LOCK NUTS with FLAT WASHERS, provided, on the two (2) inside holes (threaded bolts) using nut driver or ratchet with 7/16” socket, making sure FLANGE NUT does not fall between panels. A piece of tape in socket is helpful in holding FLANGE NUT in place until started. Loosely tighten both FLANGE NUTS.

10. Next, using ½” MACHINE SCREW and FLAT WASHER, provided, loosely tighten using Phillips screw driver. After all four (4) fasteners have been started, tighten evenly. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.

11. Replace trunk cover from the inside of trunk. Clean up any metal shavings that might have fallen into the trunk and you are done. DIAGRAM B Align outside edge of TEMPLATE to outside edge of deck lid.

Starting on the drivers side, align TEMPLATE to the 12” mark made in Step #2. Align arrows to outer edge of deck lid, tape TEMPLATE in place. Keeping TEMPLATE taught, align lower opposite end of template to the center of definite crease in deck lid. See photo.
