INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

PART NUMBER: FOCUS05

FOR: 2005 + FORD FOCUS

EFFECTIVE: 10.11.06

 

INSTALLATION PACKAGE INCLUDES:

A)      4 – ¾” Heavy Thread Mounting Screws

B)      4 – Lock Washers

C)      4 – Flat Washers

E)      Adhesive Pads (for an unpainted Sportwing®)

PLEASE READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE BEGINNING INSTALLATION

 

1.         See Diagram A below for measurement.  Starting on the drivers side, measure 3 ¾” from the tip of the deck lid where it meets the rear window and place a mark.  Repeat procedure on other side.

 

2.         Place the Sportwing® on the marks made in Step #1 as show in Diagram A below.  Next, center the Sportwing® from left to right.  Outline both mounting feet with a grease pencil.

 

3.         Open the trunk and remove the four black factory plugs directly under where the mounting feet of Sportwing® will sit, see Diagram B on back of sheet.  Close deck lid.  Place the hole locators provided inside each of the mounting sleeves of each mounting foot.  A piece of masking tape is helpful in holding the hole locators in place.  Next, set the Sportwing® back onto the outline marks that you made in Step #2.  Using masking tape or electrical tape, tape the hole locators to the deck lid so that when you carefully lift the Sportwing® off the hole locators they will stay in place on the deck lid.  Using a 1/8” drill bit or similar, drill a 1/8” pilot hole through the exact center of each of the hole locators through the deck lid.  After drilling all four holes, remove the hole locators and open the 1/8” pilot holes to 3/8”.  We suggest using a uni-bit to open the 3/8” hole for a cleaner cut.

 

4.         Open the deck lid.  Holding Sportwing® onto the outline marks that you made in Step #2, and using a drill, set at a slower speed with Phillips Drill Bit Tip, install mounting screws with lock washer and flat washer into the mounting holes in bottom of the mounting foot.  Tighten all four screws evenly.  DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.
