Instruction Sheet
1. Open hatch. See Diagram A below.
Notice the oval rubber plug on each side plugged into the secondary
panel. Next, you will need to lift off
the rubber boot from the plastic oval plug.
Using the flat screwdriver, notice on the center top edge of the plug
there is a small slot, you will need to press this in to release the plastic
oval plug from the secondary panel of the hatch. This will give you access to the top panel of the hatch later on
in the installation when fastening Sportwing® to the hatch.
2. See Diagram B on the back of sheet
for placement of template on the hatch.
Starting on the drivers’ side, using the drivers’ side template,
provided, place the template exactly as shown on Diagram B. Tape the template in place using masking
tape. Next, drill a 1/8” or similar
pilot hole through the exact center of the fastening hole spot on the template
through the top panel of the deck lid.
Next, using a uni-bit (NOTE: we suggest using a uni-bit for a
cleaner cut) you will need to open the 1/8” pilot hole that you just made
to 7/16”. Repeat procedure on passenger
side using the passenger side template, provided.
3. Apply Zinc Chromate Primer or touch-up paint on the edges of
the two (2) 7/16” holes that you drilled in the hatch.
4. Holding onto the Sportwing®, place the Sportwing®
onto the hatch, aligning the threaded mounting sleeves in mounting feet to the
7/16” holes that you made in hatch.
Using the mounting screws with lock washers, provided, install screws
into the threaded sleeves of the mounting feet. Tighten evenly until tight.
DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.
5. Replace rubber boot onto the black oval factory plugs. Then, press the black oval factory plugs
back into the secondary panel of hatch that you removed in Step #1.
6. Clean up any metal shavings and you are done. If you have any questions, problems or if
you would like information about other quality Sportwing® products,
please call the TOLL FREE number at the top of this sheet. Thank you for choosing Dawn Enterprises Inc.
