Instruction Sheet
1. CLEAN AND PREP
For proper installation of Sportwing®,
clean the surface where the Sportwing® is to be installed using car
wash soap and water.
2. Close the trunk. Starting on the drivers’ side, measure down 9
1/8” from the front corner of the trunk lid where it meets the window glass
and make a mark. See Diagram A below. Repeat procedure on passenger side.
3. Leaving the Red Liner on bottom of mounting area of
Sportwing®, place the Sportwing® so that it fits
flush to the deck lid and the front tips of the Sportwing are aligned to
the 9 1/8” marks that you made in Step #2. Then, center Sportwing® exactly left to right. See Diagram A on back of sheet. Next, using a grease pencil and making sure
Sportwing® is flush to the deck lid and in desired position, outline
completely with the grease pencil around entire Sportwing® so that
later on when adhering Sportwing® to the deck lid, you will be able
to place the Sportwing® exactly to the desired position. See Diagram B on back of sheet.
4. IMPORTANT! See
Diagram B on back of sheet before beginning this step! Using paint thinner in brown bottle,
provided, pour thinner onto a soft cloth (NOTE: pour away from
vehicle so thinner does not drop onto the deck lid of the vehicle) and wipe
thinner onto shaded area only, as shown in Diagram B on back of sheet. Making sure thinner does not run above or
below outline marks that you made in Step #3, wipe immediately if thinner
should run outside of outline marks.
Wipe dry with clean, soft cloth.
5. Next, using the Pro-Bond Adhesive Promoter Crush Swab,
provided, squeeze the applicator until you feel the applicator crush. The applicator will become wet on the end
and is ready for use. Apply a thin coat
of Pro-Bond inside of the outline marks (NOTE: shaded area as
shown in Diagram B) of the Sportwing® that you made in Step
#3. Should Pro-Bond run beyond shaded
area, wipe immediately (NOTE: Pro-Bond could dull paint).
6. Next, make sure that the vehicle and Sportwing®
is at least 75°F – 95°F before installing Sportwing®.
IN WARMER TEMERATURES:
Place the Sportwing® and vehicle in a sunny area before
installing. This will allow Sportwing®
to form and adhere properly to vehicle.
IN COLDER TEMERATURES: You
will need to use a heat gun or hair dryer to warm the surface of the deck lid
and also heat the Sportwing®, this will allow the Sportwing®
to form and adhere properly to the vehicle.
IMPORTANT! When
heating, do not direct heat in one area too long, keep heat gun moving so you
do not damage painted surface.
7. Peel all of the red liner off from the bottom of the
mounting area of Sportwing® and place back onto the outline marks on
the deck lid made in Step #3 and press firmly into place. Using a soft cloth, apply pressure the
entire length of the Sportwing. ®
