*REMOVE TRUNK LINER*

1.         Starting on the drivers’ side, measure 17 ¾” from tip of the deck lid where it meets the rear window.  Place a mark with a grease pencil.  See Diagram A below.  Repeat procedure on other side.

2.         Leaving paper liner on bottom of mounting area, place the Sportwing® on the marks made in Step #1 so that as you face the rear of the car, the front tip of the Sportwing® rests on these marks.  Next, center the Sportwing® from left to right.  Using a grease pencil, outline the outer mounting area.  See Diagram B below.

3.         Open deck lid.  See Diagram C on back of sheet for 1” hole saw measurement.  Using a 1” hole saw, you will need to open a 1” hole in the secondary panel of the deck lid.  This will give you access to the top panel of the deck lid for fastening center of Sportwing® to deck lid (NOTE: a 1” hole cap has been provided upon finishing).

4.         Close the trunk and remove the paper liner from the bottom of the mounting area of the Sportwing.  Place the Sportwing® back onto the outline marks made in Step #2 and press firmly into place.

5.         Using a 5/32” drill bit (NOTE: when drilling, we insist that you use a drill stopper to prevent from drilling through the top of the Sportwing®.  Electrical tape wrapped tightly around the drill bit will work as a drill stopper).  Using the center of the 1” cut out hole that you made in the secondary panel, drill a 5/32” hole through the deck lid and up into the bottom of the Sportwing® using 5/8” chrome screw with chrome lock washer.  Tighten firmly.

6.         Open the trunk and notice the outside rain channel of the trunk lid under the area where the mounting feet sit.  Using a 5/32” drill bit (NOTE: when drilling, we insist that you use a drill stopper to prevent from drilling through the top of the Sportwing®).  Holding onto the Sportwing® while drilling and drilling from inside the deck lid, drill through the deck lid at designated spots.  See Diagram D on back of sheet and continue drilling into the bottom of the mounting area of the Sportwing®.  Using a ratchet with 5/16” socket, install the mounting screw with lock washers provided and tighten firmly.  DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.  Repeat on other side.

7.         Clean up any metal shavings that may have fallen into the trunk.  If you have any questions, problems or if you would like information about other quality Sportwing® products, please call the TOLL FREE number at the top of this sheet.  Thank you for choosing Dawn Enterprises Inc.

Center of 1” cut out hole should be 1 ½” up from POINT A.  This will give you access to the top panel of deck lid for drilling and fastening down center of Sportwing®.

Drivers’ side deck lid in open position

Screw Fastening Locations:  Measure forward from curve in the deck lid ¾” for your rear fastening hole (NOTE: you are using the outermost trunk channel for your fastening area.  When drilling, drill inward as much as possible to where the head of the mounting screw will still be able to lie flush on the flat surface of outer trunk channel).  Next, measure 1 ½” forward of the ¾” (rear fastening hole) for your front fastening hole using ratchet with 5/16” socket.  Install mounting screws provided with lock washers and tighten firmly.  DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.
